Picking up from where I left off in autumn hues, I ventured out to San Juan Capistrano this past weekend for some rustic brunch.
I absolutely love the decor. From the potted plants to the sack table cloth, this little cafe is a true rustic/shabby gem.
The cafe offers a pre fixe brunch menu for $35. While I would have preferred to order a la carte, I think the price is reasonable given the amount of food they feed you. Take a look – everything looks good right?
Let’s start with the drinks…mimosa, iced coffee and water. I have never seen mimosas served in anything but a flute. Love it.
I got the apple cinnamon beignets as my starter. I didn’t even know what they were and am generally not a fan of sweets but everyone ordered them so I had to follow suit. They were AMAZING.
Next up – the basil cured salmon lox. It was pretty good but my beignets were better.
I went with the skillet eggs as my entree. This is the cafe’s take on huevos rancheros. It wasn’t anything mind blowing but it was tasty.
This is the cafe’s most popular dish – crab hash with scrambled eggs. I’m not a big crab fan but every other person got this dish so it must be pretty darn good.
The area isn’t very big. There are a handful of shops and cafes.
I was very tempted to check out the petting zoo. However, a combination of food coma, alcohol and heat made me lazy. I’ll have to come back for more beignets!
Happy day before Friday!
