Two weekends ago (I know it’s been forever since I posted 😦 )my girlfriends and I brunched at Cecconi’s in West Hollywood. I had driven by this gorgeous restaurant a few times and each time, the restaurant’s valet parking lot looked like a luxury car show. Nice cars aside, the rumor mill (aka Yelpers) raved about the food and ambiance. So we hopped in our cars and to brunch we drove.
We got lucky with an outdoor table. I loved the relaxing ambiance and over abundance of green and white.
Before we get to my choice of entrée (because it’s so not obvious), we started with a few appetizers.
First appetizer: tuna tartare, made fresh in front of you!
The tuna tasted very fresh and the addition of avocados and arugula was on point. Definitely recommend this dish.
Meatballs in tomato sauce – good but nothing to write home about. I feel like it’s hard to go wrong with meatballs…actually what am I saying…you can definitely go wrong with meatballs.
Girlfriend #1 got the Plin agnolotti with black truffles. It looked and smell amazing but she said it tasted subpar.
Girlfriend #2 got the lobster linguine. It also looked delicious but she did not like it either.
Last but not least, I got the linguine with clams!!! I usually always request red sauce but wanted to try something different this time. Note to self: stick with what you know…
The pasta was tough and the white sauce, extremely bland. I felt like I was choking on my food the entire time. The clams were also few and small. 😦
Unfortunately, all three of us left the restaurant hungry and disappointed. Maybe we all got the wrong things but we probably will not return. On to the next one…!
